◉ JUST IN: AOC Urges Israel War Ceasefire, Ignoring Warnings of Leaving Hamas in Control of Gaza
During an interview on MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan Show, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) expressed her willingness to endorse a ceasefire that would maintain Hamas as the governing body of the Gaza Strip.
When asked by Hasan if she would “accept a ceasefire, though, that would leave Hamas in place? You would accept that as a necessary step to save civilian lives in Gaza?” Ocasio-Cortez responded, “In the immediate sense, I believe it is crucial to establish a temporary halt to the ongoing events.”
While acknowledging the “horrific” nature of the attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel, Ocasio-Cortez views the retaliatory actions of the Jewish state as disproportionate. She maintains that they are not an appropriate response to the situation at hand.
